December in Photos: Venus, the Conjunction, and the Cold Moon

Crescent Moon and Venus over Manhattan – December 13th

With my Argentina eclipse adventure having come to an unfortunate end (you can read the full story here), on the bright side, below are a few pics from the morning of December 13th, just one day before the eclipse in Chile and Argentina.

I woke up at 4 a.m. without any hopes for clear skies and was able to capture an extremely thin crescent Moon and Venus over Manhattan after 5:30 – 6 a.m.

Crescent Moon with Jupiter and Saturn – December 17th

Four days prior to the great conjunction, I took these photos of the crescent Moon with Jupiter and Saturn right after sunset, as seen from North Bergen, New Jersey. (Clear skies after the snowstorm.)

Conjunction with a Holiday Sprit – December 18th

Here are few more photos of the Jupiter and Saturn conjunction with a holiday sprit!

Great Conjunction of Jupiter and Saturn – December 21st

Despite overcast skies, I was able to capture the great conjunction of Jupiter and Saturn at their closest point, from North Bergen, New Jersey. I’m not sure if the view was a “Christmas Star 2020”, but what did you expect? These aren’t Arizona or Atacama Desert clear skies.

Helicopter Flying in Front of the Cold Moon – December 29th

If you’re wondering, according to Flightradar24 the helicopter is a Meridian Bell 206L-4 Long Ranger.
