SEMINAR ON RECENT ADVANCES IN ASTRONOMY
At the Seminar on Recent Advances in Astronomy, we discuss the latest astronomical news. We look at late-breaking stories taken from online sources, newspaper articles, and weekly periodicals like Science News. Monthly magazines such as Sky & Telescope, Astronomy, and Scientific American are brought in by members. As students of astronomy, we ask and explore questions on subjects ranging from basic through advanced—about stars, planets, astrophysics, and cosmology. We debate the significance and meaning of recent developments in these fields. The sessions are free to members.
The seminar usually meets on the second Thursday of each month, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., in the sixth-floor conference room at 726 Broadway, New York University. Occasionally we use another location. We sometimes meet on another day if there is a conflict with a holiday or if NYU is not in session.
